DETAIL ABOUT BANAS RIVER

The Banas River originates in the Aravalli Range's Khamnor Hills, near Kumbhalgarh in Rajsamand. It is a tributary of the Chambal River with a length of about 512 kilometres. 'Van Ki Asha' is another name for it (Hope of forest). In Rajasthan, there is another river called Banas, which flows in a western direction and is also known as the West Banas River.

Although it is a seasonal river that dries up in the summer, it is still used for irrigation. The Government of Rajasthan completed the Bisalpur-Jaipur project in 2009, which provides drinking water from the Banas to Jaipur city. The Banas basin includes all or parts of the districts of Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Jaipur, Pali, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, and Udaipur, and drains the east slope of the central Aravalli Range.

MAJOR TRIBUTARIES
The right bank tributaries of Berach and Menali, as well as the left bank tributaries of Kothari River, Khari River, Dai River, Dheel River, Sohadara, Morel, and Kalisil, are major tributaries.

Sipu: Sipu is a major tributary of the Banas, which originate in the Sirohi and Mount Abu hills of Rajasthan's Sirohi district. Between the Banas and Sipu sub-basins are the Abu hills. About 30% of Mount Abu Hills direct runoff flows into the Sipu River, while 70% of Mount Abu Hills direct runoff flows into the Banas River. 12 kilometres downstream of the Dantiwada Dam is the confluence of the Sipu and Banas rivers.

Khari: The Kahri river rises in Palanpur (B.K. district) and flows through Mehsana district, 80 kilometres downstream of the Dantiwada dam, to join the Banasa river.

Sukli: The Sukli tributary rises from the Aravalli hills near Pindwara in Rajasthan's Sirohi district and flows into the Banas river downstream of the Swaroopganj dam and 9 kilometres upstream of the Abu road.

Batria: The river rises near the Aravalli range's Ambaji hills and flows into Banas, 3 kilometres upstream from Abu road.

It flows southeast to meet the Dhund River, then southeast through Jaipur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur before joining the Banas River near Hadoli in Sawai Madhopur District.

The KaliSil River rises in the hills near Rajpura village in Sawai Madhopur District and flows through Sawai Madhopur. The river flows southwest, passing through the hills of Sawai Madhopur District and the plains of Sawai Madhopur District before joining the Morel River.
